Winter is Coming!

Well, Autumn is almost gone and the end of the financial year is rushing up to meet us!

Here in Southwest Victoria it is still a very dry autumn and we really have not had the rainfall we normally get – especially as the May Racing Carnival has come and gone without one of the days being rained out!

We are currently in full swing with our Tax Planning meetings which help our customers plan the tax liability they will pay after implementing some of the hundreds of tax saving strategies we recommend.

Last Friday our Team had our quarterly review where we examine what we accomplished, areas for improvement and the plans and goals for the next quarter. We all set our individual 90-day Action Plans and shared them for greater accountability.

Last month, Ange and I headed to the Philippines for our International Conference in Cebu. We caught up with our International Team Members, Angie and Rocel. The weather was a very hot 32 degrees each day but it was good to escape the colder weather here for a while.

15 May

Lodge 2023 tax returns for all entities that did not have to lodge earlier (including all remaining consolidated groups) and are not eligible for the 5 June concession.
Due date for companies and super funds to pay if required.
Note: Individuals and trusts in this category pay as advised on their notice of assessment.

21 May

Lodge and pay April 2024 monthly business activity statement.
Final date to add new FBT clients to your client list to ensure they receive the lodgment and payment concessions for their fringe benefits tax returns.
Lodge and pay Fringe benefits tax annual return if lodging by paper.

26 May

Lodge and pay eligible quarter 3, 2023–24 activity statements if you or your client have elected to receive and lodge electronically.

28 May

Lodge and pay quarter 3, 2023–24 Superannuation guarantee charge statement if the employer did not pay enough contributions on time.Note: Employers who lodge a Superannuation guarantee charge statement can choose to offset contributions they paid late to a fund against their super guarantee charge for the quarter. They still have to pay the remaining super guarantee charge.

TAX PLANNING ADVICE – Business Customers

By forecasting your expected 2024 income and tax payable for all individuals and entities in your family group, we can then develop strategies to “spread” your income across your family group in the most tax-effective way – and legally reduce your tax.

One of these strategies may be deferring income into the 2025 year so that you can take advantage of the updated Stage 3 Tax Cuts!
